In Spring 2023, OC Sports & Entertainment was preparing to launch a significant campaign to celebrate the Anaheim Ducks’ & Honda Center’s 30th Anniversary and launch the company into the future with the groundbreaking for the OCVIBE entertainment district. Additionally, the Corporate Partnerships team was working to renew several key sponsorship deals for the upcoming hockey season, including the agreement with COX Communications.

COX had previously operated a high-traffic interactive meet-and-greet activation near the meant entrance and Ducks Team Store. In the renewed agreement, COX desired an updated activation that they would no longer be responsible for managing. Given the upcoming 30th Anniversary campaign, the Ducks also wished to engage fans with an interactive storytelling opportunity to celebrate.

The Digital Experience Design team, which I led, was tasked with creating concepts for and executing this activation, which needed to seamlessly blend two brand stories together into a fun, intuitive fan experience.

DXD created a digital photo booth — the Vibe Vault — where fans generate 90’s-themed AR images. Fans received branded emails of these images as takeaways, and they also populated a digital mosaic of memories visualized on the accompanying video wall. Our goal was to bring fans together across generations and geographical boundaries, united by COX Communications. With this activation, we were able to create personalized human connections and think beyond the initial engagement — providing the Ducks and COX with an opportunity to create permanent memories and repeat engagement outside Honda Center itself.
